No one should be treated as an ex-human in our society.

These streets, and all the precious people that inhabit them, are sacred.

Hand on your heart…

Sacred Streets way of being, of animating love and care in our neighborhoods, flows out of our core belief that all flourishing is mutual.

We believe that ALL precious human beings are inherently good and beautiful, have something particular to offer this world and that a thriving soul of a city, of our economy and democracy must be inclusive of and dependent on all citizens mutual flourishing.

We believe that we all desire to weave this web of belonging, meaning making, beauty and reciprocity.

This belief is rooted in abundance, and this work, it is for the fools, like you and me.

Located in Seattle, Sacred Streets is a movement of local faith communities to provide soul care on the streets, accompany our unhoused neighbors through significant life transitions, and offer care for those working on the front lines in social service and crisis response.

Areas of focus

  • Companionship

    Our main aim is to

    train Companions and

    form Circles of Care

    throughout the city and county

    We work with congregations

    and pastoral staff to honor

    compassion and concern

    and equip one another to

    accompany a neighbor

    from the street to stability

    Companionship is a deeply humble

    relationship, nurturing wholeness

    through five spiritual practices of

    hospitality and neighboring,

    side by side experience,

    listening and accompaniment

  • Circles of Care

A Circle of Care is a group

    of individuals trained to share

    the healing/recovery journey

    with our unhoused neighbors,

    meeting regularly to

    meditate on the web of belonging;

    reflect on our calling to connect;

    contemplate the Holy;

    discern the Way ahead and

    decide on next steps

  • Collaboration

We are developing a street order

    of Outreach Chaplains. We offer

    soul care, material mercy and

    individual advocacy. We ally with

    survival resources, housing programs

    and health and human services

    to help create early intervention

and “first steps” care on the front lines.

We link with first responders, shelters

    day centers and residences, attending

to the human spirit and the weaving

of the fabric of healing, recovery and

    growth in our communities.

  • Creating Caring Community

Sacred Streets is a voice of wisdom and

    compassion. Served and serving,

    together

we tell the stories of despair, of being

unhoused and on the desperate margins.

We create “brave spaces” where we

    face one another courageously,

as bearers of truth, healing and

    shared wellbeing. We testify and

witness to the ways that make for

recovery and growth in our families and

    neighborhoods. We honor the struggles

and celebrate the movements and moments that make us a better, more just, loving

    whole and healthy people.

    We acknowledge

our own woundedness and finitude, and

are grateful for gifts each of us bring to

the great task of caring for one another.
